Formaldehydfreie wäßrige und lagerungsstabile Kunststoffdispersionen auf Basis eines vernetzbaren Polymerisats aus ethylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren mit einem Gehalt an N-Methylolamid- und/oder N-Methyloletheramidgruppen, die eine cyclische Harnstoffverbindung der Formel I, <IMAGE> worin n = 0 oder 1, X = Sauerstoff, -CH2-, -CH(R)- oder -N(R)-, wobei R für (C1-C4)-Alkyl oder (C1-C4)-Alkylol steht, und R¹, R² = H oder OH bedeutet, insbesondere Ethylenharnstoff, als Formaldehydacceptor enthalten, Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung durch Vermischen des Acceptors mit der Ausgangsdispersion sowie Verwendung der formaldehydfreien Dispersionen zum physiologisch unbedenklichen Beschichten, Verkleben oder Verfestigen von natürlichen oder synthetischen Materialien, insbesondere zur Ausrüstung von non wovens.
