[origin: US4661742A] The luminescent screen comprises blocks having an optical transparency of less than 1. The blocks are placed between the grains of the first layer of luminescent material and the transparent substrate and have a cross-sectional area which is equal at a maximum to that of the grains. Said blocks are formed by means of a selective plasma etching operation in which the grains of the first layer of luminescent material are employed as a mask.

Cet écran comporte des pavés (6), de transparence optique (T3) inférieure à 1, disposés entre les grains de la première couche de matériau luminescent (2) et le support transparent (1). Ces pavés ont une section au plus égale à celle des grains. Ils sont réalisés par attaque plasma sélective en utilisant les grains de la première couche de matériau luminescent comme masque.
