Installation enabling a load to be wrapped with a sheet of predrawn plastic material, by regulating the quantity of sheet supplied to the quantity of sheet required for the wrapping of the load, which installation comprises at least one reel of drawable sheet and at least one drawing device (5, 21, 22), disposed between said reel and the load to be wrapped, characterized in that the installation comprises means (13, 14) for measuring, at each instant, the quantity of predrawn sheet used for making up the envelope of the load and the quantity of predrawn sheet supplied at the outlet from the drawing device, and means (15) for comparing this quantity of sheet actually used with the quantity of predrawn sheet which is supplied, the outlet from these comparison means (15) being connected to a device for controlling the supply of the motor or motors (8, 9; 35) for driving each drawing device, in such a manner as to correct, progressively as the operation of wrapping the load (1) proceeds, the quantity of predrawn sheet supplied so that it remains equal to the quantity of sheet used for making up the envelope of the load, without intervention upon the drawing of the sheet.
