A shunting arrangement for rail vehicles comprising a branched track arrangement for the assembling of trains consisting of wagons in a desired sequence on specific tracks with the aid of shunting locomotives, characterised in that the shunting locomotives are traction units in the manner of conveying trolleys (7) which are equipped with robot tools (71, 72, 73) for the coupling and uncoupling of the wagons (5), in that, at least in the track region (upper track 2) on which the trains are assembled, lower tracks (8) are provided directly underneath the upper tracks (2), in that upper and lower tracks can be travelled on by the conveying trolleys (7) without hindrance by wagons (5) or conveying trolleys (7) present on the other track, and in that the conveying trolleys (7) in each case have a raising and lowering mechanism (42) for transposing the conveying trolley (7) from the upper track (2) onto the lower track (8) and vice versa.
