Vertically/horizontally hung window or door, comprising a case frame (10) and a sash frame (12) pivotable about a pivot axis (14) and turnable about a rotation axis (16), where drive rod means (74; 274) are arranged on at least some of the sash frame members, preferably in the rebate region, in order to communicate window functions, namely pivoting readiness, ajar fixing, turning readiness, closed locking, where furthermore these drive rod means are movable by manual actuation means (44) in the longitudinal direction of the respective sash bar and are settable by these successively in different functional positions corresponding to these window functions, and where in an ajar fixing functional position lying for example between the turning readiness and pivoting readiness functional positions a setting member (46; 246) movable with the drive rod means and a counter-setting member (50) fitted for example on the sash frame, by engaging in one another, fix an ajar position of the sash frame, characterised in that at least in the ajar fixing functional position of the drive rod means (74; 274) the setting member (46; 246) and/or the counter-setting member is/are made movable out of a mutual engagement position (Figures 2 and 3) in the direction towards a respective disengagement position (Figure 8) and initially spring-stressed into the respective engagement position.
