Insert for the housing of a rod of radioactive material, intended to be trapped in a transport container for such rods, characterised in that it comprises a metal tube (5) of square cross-section, a first cladding of the tube by means of a tape (7) of boron fabric, wound helically around this tube so that the successive turns (8) partially overlap and a second cladding by means of a tape (9) of fabric made of a material of high mechanical strength and heat resistance, wound helically around the preceding so that the successive turns (10) partially overlap, the aluminium alloy of the container coming directly into contact with this second cladding. Containers for radioactive rods and materials made in a single block by casting an alloy, for example of aluminium, around such inserts. <IMAGE>

Insert pour le logement d'une barre en matériau radioactif, destiné à être emprisonné dans un conteneur de transport de telles barres, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend un tube métallique (5) de section carrée, un premier enrobage de ce tube au moyen d'un ruban (7) de tissu de bore, enroulé en spirale autour de ce tube de manière que les spires successives (8) se recouvrent partiellement, et un second enrobage au moyen d'un ruban (9) de tissu en un matériau à haute résistance mécanique et à la chaleur, enroulé en spirale autour du précédent de manière que les spires successives (10) se recouvrent partiellement, l'alliage d'aluminium du conteneur venant directement au contact de ce second enrobage. Conteneurs pour barres et matériaux radioactifs réalisés d'un bloc par coulée d'un alliage par exemple d'aluminium autour de tels inserts.
