[origin: WO8404668A1] A protective device (18) for preventing damage to surgically implantable prostheses (12) from sharp, irregular bone edges of resected bone. The protective devices (10) are generally disc shape having substantially planar faces (27) wherein an aperture (30) is cut through the center of face (37) for permitting stem portions (14, 16) to be inserted therethrough to interface between the resected bone and the surface of the prostheses (12).
