[origin: WO8500153A1] A thermoplastic closure consisting of a circular top wall (1) and an internally threaded skirt (2, 3) with an annular inwardly directed protrusion (15) extending from the inner wall of the skirt (2) below the intersection (7) of the skirt (2) with the closure top wall (1). The protrusion (15) is adapted to receive a flowed in gasket (8) and as the closure is screwed into place on a container (4) to urge the gasket (8) against the outside of the container neck (16) to thereby effect a side seal in this area (16). A method of flowing a gasket into a closure shell by injecting a metered amount of EVA through a nozzle into the shell while spinning the shell is also disclosed.

Fermeture thermoplastique formée d'une paroi supérieure circulaire (1) et d'une jupe (2, 3) filetée à l'intérieur avec une protubérance annulaire (15) dirigée vers l'intérieur et partant de la paroi intérieure de la jupe (2) en-dessous de l'intersection (7) de la jupe (2) avec la paroi supérieure (1) de la fermeture. La protubérance (15) est conçue pour accueillir un joint coulé (8) et, lorsque la fermeture est vissée en place sur un conteneur (4), pour presser le joint (8) contre l'extérieur du col (16) du conteneur afin de créer de la sorte une étanchéité latérale dans cette zone (16). Procédé de coulage d'un joint dans un corps de fermeture en injectant une quantité mesurée d'EVA par une buse dans le corps tout en faisant tourner ledit corps.
