Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0148382A2] An efficient method of continuously treating normally dilute aqueous solutions of cellulosic pulp which routinely flow from pulpmaking or papermaking process devices to effect separation and retrieval of small amounts of desirable fiber therefrom while letting small contaminants and undesirable fiber parts flow through to the sewer and also to effect retrieval of desirable fiber during periods of high fiber loading which result from upstream catastrophic failures by utilizing an open cell hydrophobic foam separation medium on a drum or belt filter. The foam medium has a thickness within the range of from one-eighth inch to two inches and a porosity within the range of from forty to eighty pores per lineal inch.
