[origin: WO8500356A1] A process for making glass fibers comprising supplying a stream of molten glass to a rotating rotor (50); discharging said glass through orifices in said rotor (50) as a plurality of primary streams; and attenuating said primary streams into fibers, said rotor (50) being fabricated from a superalloy by a process comprising hot isostatically pressing the superalloy material sufficient to substantially increase the high-temperature service capability of the rotor (50); and electropolishing said rotor (50) to at least partially remove the sharp edges and discontinuities in the orifices (55) to reduce or eliminate the amount of break-in time otherwise required.

Procédé de production de fibres de verre comportant l'alimentation d'un jet de verre fondu à un rotor rotatif (50), la décharge dudit verre par des orifices pratiqués dans ledit rotor (50) pour former une pluralité de jets primaires et l'atténuation desdits jets primaires en fibres, ledit rotor (50) étant fabriqué à base d'un super alliage selon un procédé comportant un pressage isostatique à chaud du matériau du superalliage suffisant pour accroître sensiblement les capacités de fonctionnement à haute température du rotor (50) et le polissage électrolytique dudit rotor (50) afin d'enlever au moins partiellement les bords tranchants et les discontinuités des orifices (55) en vue de réduire ou d'éliminer la période d'intercalage qui serait autrement nécessaire.
