[origin: EP0149149A2] In a candle holder having a beaker-like container open upwards and a cylindrical guide tube which accommodates the candle shaft, the guide tube is inserted loosely into the container in such a way that the guide tube is also surrounded laterally and below by the container. The hollow guide tube is open above and below and provided with at least one support part which supports it in the beaker and secures it against tilting. The container is filled with water to above the guide tube, so that the inserted candle can be buoyed up with respect to the edge, and so that the water jacket and the container generate decorative light effects. For the purpose of ease of cleaning, the guide tube can be removed from the container. <IMAGE>
