[origin: EP0149447A2] In a method of controlling the level in continuous casting moulds (10, 10') of a multiple-strand continuous casting plant having at least two continuous casting moulds supplied by a common tundish (12), from which moulds strands (16, 17) are withdrawn by means of a synchronous drive (18, 24), by observing the melting bath level (23) in one of the continuous casting moulds (10), deviations of the melting bath level (23) in this continuous casting mould (10) from a nominal value are compensated by changing the withdrawal speed of all the cast strands (16, 17) emerging from the continuous casting moulds (10, 10'), whereas deviations of the melting bath level (14) in the other continuous casting mould(s) (10') are controlled by changing the amount of molten metal flowing into the other continuous casting mould(s) (10). <IMAGE>
