[origin: EP0149938A2] 1. An electrochemical process for removing gangue surrounding metallic elements in bulk materials, characterised in that the bulk materials are introduced into a basket (4) disposed in an electrolysis cell (1), this cell comprising : a) a cathode constituted of a central conductive part (5) extending into the basket and connected to a metallic grid (6) disposed at the bottom of the basket, b) an anode (8) outside the basket, c) a basic aqueous bath as the electrolyte, a cathodic polarization in maintained, which results in an emanation of hydrogen for a sufficient time to obtain a detachment of the gangue, then the basket (4) is withdrawn from the cell (1) and the metallic elements are separated from the gangue.
