[origin: US4592669A] A printer includes a printhead, a driven platen to advance the paper, which simultaneously provides counter-pressure to the printhead, and a paper-cutting bar which includes a cutting edge on which the paper can be cut. A paper compartment holds a paper supply, through which the platen is accessible for paper insertion. A cover plate or lid covers the paper compartment. In order to assure safe operation, the cutting edge of the paper-cutting bar is mounted outside of the most constricted space between the platen axle and the paper-cutting bar. The end of the paper-cutting bar includes the cutting edge thus covering the platen so that the end of the cover plate penetrates beneath or overlaps the specified end of the paper-cutting bar in the closed position. When moving from the closed position to the open position, a motion device causes the cover plate to be initially moved in a linear direction to clear the cutting bar and thereafter rotate around a rotary axle which is substantially parallel to the platen axle.

Der Papierschreiber umfaßt eine Schreibstelle (26), eine antreibbare Walze (32) zum Antrieb des Papiers, die gleichzeitig als Gegendruckstelle zur Schreibstelle dient, ein Abreißblech (44), an dessen Abreißkante (46) das Papier abreißbar ist, einen Papierschacht zur Aufnahme eines Papiervorrats (30), durch den die Walze zum Papiereinlegen zugänglich ist, und ein Abdeckblech (Deckel) (10) für den Papierschacht. Um einen sicheren Betrieb zu gewährleisten, ist vorgesehen, daß die Abreißkante (46) des Abreißbleches (44) außerhalb des engsten Abstandes zwischen der Walzenachse (40) und dem Abreißblech (44) angeordnet ist. Das die Abreißkante (46) umfassende Ende des Abreißbleches (44) überdeckt dabei die Walze (32), so daß das Abdeckblech (10) in der Schließstellung endseitig unter das besagte Ende des Abreißbleches (44) greift. Das Abdeckblech (10) ist beim Übergang von der Schließstellung in die Freilegstellung mittels einer Bewegungseinrichtung (50) zunächst linear verschiebbar und danach um eine parallel zur Walzenachse (40) ausgerichtete Drehachse (54) drehbar.
