In order to be able to use such fluorescent lamps (8) in lights with conventional bulb sockets with a small installed height and small diameter, it is provided that the bulb fitting (1) holds an insert (6) as a socket for the fitting (7) of the fluorescent lamp (8), and the ballast unit surrounds the part (7') of the fitting (7) projecting from the bulb fitting (1) with an annular core (29), concentrically to the bulb fitting (1), and extending approximately to the glass (9) of the fluorescent lamp (8), and is connected to the insert (6).
