[origin: US4634873A] In per se known manner, this apparatus comprises a radioactive source locked within a cylindrical source holder, which is itself fitted in an appropriate cylindrical recess. The cylindrical recess is higher than a larger diameter cylindrical recess, in whose walls are partly fitted at least one locking ring and at least one lug. The source holder has in its lower part a flange, whose upper portion is chamfered, as well as an annular groove and at least one slot, inclined with respect to the axis of revolution of the source holder and whose width is at least equal to the diameter of the said lug. This slot, which issues onto the upper face of the flange, is such that the position of the lug in the bottom of the slot corresponds to that of the locking ring in the annular groove. The apparatus has particular application to cobalt therapy equipment, particularly to the ALCYON head.

De manière connue, ce dispositif comporte une source radioactive (1) bloquée à l'intérieur d'un porte-source cylindrique (2), lui-même monté dans un logement (3) cylindrique approprié. Selon l'invention, le logement cylindrique surmonte un logement cylindrique de diamètre supérieur dans les parois duquel sont partiellement implantés au moins un jonc (5) et au moins un ergot (6). Egalement selon l'invention, le porte-source (2) comporte, en sa partie inférieure, une collerette chanfreinée (7) en sa partie haute, comprenant une gorge annulaire (8), et au moins une rainure (9) inclinée par rapport à l'axe de révolution du porte-source, de largeur au moins égale au diamètre dudit ergot; cette rainure (9), débouchant sur la face supérieure de ladite collerette, est telle que la position de l'ergot (6) dans le fond de la rainure (9) correspond à celle du jonc (5) dans la gorge annulaire (8). Application aux appareils de cobalthérapie notamment à la tête «ALCYON».
