A float which is described for switching on and off electrical devices such as the drive motors of pumps or such like consists of a waterproof housing 2, designed as a float body, having a perforation 3 through which an electric cable 5 is introduced into the housing 2, sealed by a sealing element 4 such that it is proof against fluids. The end sections of the current carrying cores 6, 7 of the cable 5 are each connected to a contact member (9, 10) and are spaced from one another and mounted, so as to project into the hollow cavity of the piston 13, at the one end section of a hollow piston 13, which is supported in a swivellable manner on a swivelling lever 12 and consists of electrically non-conductive material. In the piston 13, there is an electrically conductive fluid which partially fills the hollow cavity 13. <IMAGE>

Beschrieben wird ein Schwimmerschalter zur Ein- und Abschaltung elektrischer Einrichtungen wie Antriebsmotoren von Pumpen od. dgl. Er besteht aus einem wasserdicht als Schwimmkörper ausgebildeten Gehäuse 2 mit einer Durchbrechung 3, durch das mittels eines Dichtelements 4 flüssigkeitsdicht abgedichtet ein Stromkabel 5 in das Gehäuse 2 eingeführt ist. Dessen stromleitenden Adern 6, 7 sind endabschnittsseitig mit jeweils eine Kontaktglied (9, 10) verbunden und voneinander distantziert an dem einen Endabschnitt eines an einem Schwinghebel 12 schwenkbar gelagerten hohlen Kolbens 13 aus elektrisch nicht leitfähigen Werkstoff in den Hohlraum des Kolbens 13 hineinragend befestigt. In dem Kolben 13 befindet sich ein den Hohlraum 13 teilweise ausfüllendes elektrisch leitendes Fluid.
