Der Hauptscheinwerfer für Kraftfahrzeuge hat einen Rechteckreflektor (10) mit einem Fernbereichssektor (8) und zwei Nahbereichssektoren (12) sowie einen bezüglich der Vertikalmittelebene (18) symmetrischen Zusatzsektor (13). Dieser Zusatzsektor (13) ist Flächenteil eines Nicht-rotations-Hohlkörpers, der ein Paraboloid-Ellipsoid oder ein Polyellipsoid oder ein Hohlkörper ist, dessen beiden Hauptschnitte jeweils eine kegelschnittähnliche Kurve höherer Ordnung ist. Der Zusatzsektor (13) erzeugt ein Teillichtbündel, das unterhalb der Helldunkelgrenze (22) liegt, die Fahrbahn in ihrer gesamten Breite und deren Nahbereich ausleuchtet.
