Apparatus for introducing molten steel in the form of a pouring stream into a continuous casting mould, with at least one nozzle (4) fixed on a storage container, characterised in that, for introduction into a continuous casting mould (7) with a casting cross-section of less than 70 mm in width and at least 70 mm in length or a casting cross-section with an edge length or a diameter of less than 70 mm, the nozzle (4) has an upper portion (4a) completely surrounding the pouring stream and a lower obliquely cut portion (5) which is directly adjacent to the upper portion and is allocated to the gate (7b) of the continuous casting mould (7), and the pouring stream is guided only over part of its periphery in this portion (5).
