[origin: US4665550A] An electrodynamic loudspeaker for the high or mid-range sound region emits sound omnidirectionally. The loudspeaker comprises two identical individual loudspeakers arranged on opposite sides of a plane of mirror symmetry. Each loudspeaker has a drive unit with a permanent magnet fixed at a carrier part common to both sides and a moving coil means, including a winding and a bobbin, elastically held by a spider at carrier part. Each moving coil means is rigidly connected with a hemispherical membrane. The carrier part is formed as a ring and is limited by a spherical ring surface having a diameter which is somewhat smaller than twice the diameter of the outer rim of the membrane. The moving coil means has a diameter substantially the same as the outer edge of the membrane.

Der elektrodynamische Lautsprecher ist für den Hoch-oder Mitteltonbereich bestimmt und weist Rundum-Schallabstrahlung auf. Er setzt sich aus zwei beidseits einer Spiegelebene (20) angeordneten, baugleichen Einzellautsprechern zusammen, deren Antriebseinheit jeweils einen, an einem gemeinsamen Gehäuse befestigten Permanent-Magneten (22) und jeweils eine Schwingspule (24) aufweist, die über eine Sicke (28) an dem Gehäuse elastisch nachgiebig gehalten ist und mit jeweils einer kalottenförmigen Membran (26) starr verbunden ist. Der Durchmesser der Schwingspulen (24) ist nicht wesentlich kleiner als der Durchmesser des Aussenrandes der Membranen (26). Das Gehäuse ist ringförmig ausgebildet und durch eine Kugelzone (36) begrenzt, deren Durchmesser vorzugsweise etwas kleiner ist als das Zweifache des Durchmessers des Aussenrandes der Membranen (26).
