Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0153164A2] A pertitoneal dialysis composition contains an osmotic agent comprising a glucose polymer mixture, said mixture including more than 50% by weight of glucose polymers of D.P. (degree of polymerisation) greater than 12. A method of effecting peritoneal dialysis comprises introducing into the abdominal cavity of a patient such a peritoneal dialysis composition. A method of treating a patient suffering from toxaemia caused other than by kidney malfunction comprises effecting peritoneal dialysis by introducing into the abdominal cavity of the patient a peritoneal dialysis composition including as an osmotic agent a glucose polymer mixture containing at least 15% by weight of glucose polymers of D.P. greater than 12.
