[origin: EP0155254A2] 1. Electric-arc plasma torch, supplied with a continuous or rectified electrical current, comprising : (a) a hot cathode (3) ; (b) an intermediate electrode (6), called an ignition electrode ; (c) an anode (2) ; (d) means (8) for introducing an inert gas between the hot cathode and the intermediate electrode ; (e) means (4) for introducing a plasma-forming gas between the intermediate electrode and the anode ; (f) means for connecting the hot cathode (3) to the negative poles of a main current source and an ignition current source ; (g) means for connecting the intermediate electrode (6) to the positive poles of the said main current source and of the said ignition current source ; hight-frequency current source ; (h) means for connecting the anode (2) to the positive pole of the said main current source ; (i) current interruption means for disconnecting the said intermediate electrode (6) from the ignition current source.
