Fastener, particularly for jewellery chains, with a first element (30) formed as spring closure having a substantially U-shaped form and a second element (50, 70) which engages said spring closure (30), where a tube-shaped leg (32) of the spring closure (30) guides a further tube-shaped element (33) therein, which is connected in a suitable way to a plate (34) perpendicular thereto, and which is moveable in the longitudinal direction of the leg actuating the opening and closing function of the spring closure being biased in the closed position of the spring closure through the action of a resilient means, said second element (50, 70) being so formed that the longitudinal movement of the flat element causing the opening and closing of the spring closure can be actuated by said second element, characterized in that, the second tube-shaped element (33) is additionally guided by a rod (38) extending into the tube interior, which is fixed to the spring closure (30) and whose length is such that it even at the furthest possible displacement of the tube-shaped element (33), it remains in contact with this element and that the second element (50, 70) is formed to have at least one opening for engaging the bow (36) of the spring closure (30) and that said opening joins an opening (52, 72) whose smallest spacing is at least so large that the second element (50, 70) can pass over the rod (38), but on the other hand is not so large that the bow (36) of the spring closure (30) can pass through this opening.
