[origin: EP0305592A2] A device for clamping rails such as stock rails (40) in the region of switches is proposed, in which the rail (40) is arranged on a baseplate (44) and the rail foot (38) is held down at one side by a rail-clamping plate (42), such as a sliding chair. The sliding chair (42) is fixed releasably on the baseplate (44) by means, for example, of lateral projections (48) in order to hold down the rail foot (38) with a front section (58). In this arrangement, a force produced by a clamping element (60) acts on the sliding chair (42) in the direction of the rail foot (38). <IMAGE>
