The machine has a selector device for the particular article or service desired, a testing and collecting device for coins and/or banknotes and a computing unit for determining prices and dates, the paid-in coins or bank notes being gathered together in a removable till. To allow a wear-free and fraud-proof monitoring of the presence of the removable till, there is in the till at least one beam waveguide, of which the entrance, when the till is inserted properly into the housing of the machine, receives the light beam from a light source arranged in the fixed part of the housing and of which the exit is directed towards a photosensitive receiver which is arranged in the housing and of which the signal generated by the light beam is transmitted to the computing unit for evaluation. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Warenverkaufs- oder Dienstleistungsautomat mit einer Auswahlvorrichtung für die jeweils gewünschte Ware oder Dienstleistung sowie mit einer Prüf- und Kassiereinrichtung für Münzen und/oder Banknoten und mit einer Recheneinheit zur Ermittlung von Preisen und Daten, wobei die eingezahlten Münzen bzw. Banknoten in einer herausnehmbaren Kasse gesammelt werden. Um eine verschleißfreie und fälschungssichere Überwachung des Vorhandenseins der herausnehmbaren Kasse zu ermöglichen, ist in der Kasse mindestens ein Lichtwellenleiter angeordnet, dessen Eingang bei ordnungsgemäß in das Gehäuse des Automaten eingesetzter Kasse vom Lichtstrahl einer im feststehenden Teil des Gehäuses angeordneten Lichtquelle beaufschlagt wird und dessen Ausgang auf einen im Gehäuse angeordneten lichtempfindlichen Empfänger gerichtet ist, dessen durch den Lichtstrahl erzeugtes Signal an die Recheneinheit zur Auswertung weitergeleitet wird.
