A tubular heater member wherein a heating coil (2) is embedded in insulating material (3) in a jacket tube (1) of deformable metal, the heating coil being connected at the connecting ends to respective connecting pins (4), and wherein each connecting pin is passed through a respective insulating bead (7, 8) and is held thereby in a condition of being prevented from moving axially, characterized in that the insulating beads (7, 8) comprise a highly refractory, dense aluminium oxide with a mass content of over 80 to 90% and with a gross density of about 3.3 kg/dm**3 and that each insulating bead (7, 8) is held by a single constriction (9, 10) in the jacket tube (1).
