Apparatus for encasing adhesive-bound booklets (1) in covers (2), comprising a pressure plate (7), pressing the spine region of the cover (2) against the (3) of the booklet, and two folding jaws (8, 9), which can be moved towards one another along the upper side of the pressure plate and with the help of which the lateral projecting lengths (5) of the cover (2) can be pressed against the side regions of the booklet (1) bordering on the booklet spine (3), characterized in that the pressure plate (7) and the folding jaws (8, 9) are arranged on pivotally mounted holding members (10, 11, 12) and the holding members (10, 11, 12) are connected to a single drive motor (21) via a common drive means (20), whereby slip members (33, 34, 27) which can be adjusted as a function of torque are provided between the drive means (20) and the holding members (10, 11, 12) which can be moved by means of a follow-up control.
