Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0157263A2] The invention relates to a process for the combustion of low- quality fuels, particularly on a lignitic base. The process is used without modification on existing, previously used high-pressure boilers. The aim is to burn low-quality fuels in conventional high-pressure boilers using corresponding prefirings according to the principle of low-temperature carbonisation gas post-combustion, the low-temperature carbonisation gas combustion taking place for the most part in the boiler. The aim is achieved according to the invention in that the fuels carbonise at low temperatures, with a regulated supply of primary combustion air. To this end, an atmosphere which has a reducing effect is firstly produced in the prefiring. Subsequently, the acceleration takes place of the individual low-temperature carbonisation gas flows in flame tubes and their swirling with secondary air upon entry into the high-pressure boiler.
