An elastothane fibre is wrapped in a covering yarn using a method in which: &cirf& in a first phase, the stretched elastothane fibre is wrapped in a covering yarn which has a twist of the order of one third of the normal twist in simple wrapping, the wrapped fibre then being wound onto a bobbin; &cirf& in a separate second phase, the bobbin of wrapped fibre is taken up by a twisting unit to give it an additional twist, characterised in that &cirf& the covering yarn is a partially stretched multifilament synthetic fibre; &cirf& and in that, in a separate third phase, the wrapped fibre (31) is subjected to an additional residual hot drawing (35-38, 36). <IMAGE>

Procédé de guipage d'un fil élasthane avec un fil enrobant dans lequel: - dans une première phase, on guipe le fil d'élasthane tendu avec un fil enrobant à une torsion de l'ordre du tiers de la torsion usuelle de simple guipage, puis on réceptionne ce fil guipé sur une bobine; - puis, dans une deuxième phase distincte, on reprend cette bobine de fil guipé sur un organe donneur de torsion pour donner la torsion complémentaire, caractérisé: - en ce que le fil enrobant est un fil synthétique multifilamentaire partiellement étiré; - et en ce que, dans une troisième phase distincte, on fait subir au fil guipé (31) un étirage complémentaire résiduel (35-38) à chaud (36).
