A closing and locking device for a door or the like with an immovable closing element (10, 11, 13, 14) which is held by at least one screw (17, 22, 18) preferably disposed in the plane of the door, the immovable and non-displaceable closing element (10, 11, 13, 14) being supported by at least one additional fixing element (20, 27, 23, 25, 21), the longitudinal axis of the additional fixing element or at least a part thereof extending transversely to that of the srew (17, 22, 18), the additional fixing element being also constructed as a wood screw or as a metal bolt with a nut or the like, the inner end of which engages into the female thread (24, 26) in the interior of the fixed frame (3) or of a frame on the door or the like, and in that a plurality of such closing elements are provided, the closing members (8) which cooperate with an immovable closing element (11) being fixed on a drive rod (7) or the like, the drive rod being guided with a small clearance in the region of the closing member (8) in a metal guide piece (35), the guide piece (35) being formed by the inner end of a guide bolt (36) which is pushed into a housing (37) in the associated door member (9) or guide bolt (36) which is pushed into the marginal zone of the door.
