[origin: EP0159204A1] The washing machine is of the domestic type and has a perforated drum rotating inside a tub. The water is introduced into the tub to a level just above the bottom of the drum. In order to soak the laundry, the drum rotates at a speed (V1), for example of the order of 30 rpm, lower than the speed of rotation (V3) used for washing or rinsing of the laundry, V3 being of the order of 50 rpm. To improve the soaking, it is also possible to rotate the drum at the spin-drying speed (V2) of the order of 500 rpm. <IMAGE>
