[origin: US4632012A] A fire control system for a mobile weapon carrier incorporates a strapdown sensor block that includes inertial sensors. The digital outputs of the sensor block are utilized for weapon and sight stabilization, fire control and navigation with the aid of a signal processing system that includes a central digital computer, control and stabilization transducers associated with both sight and weapon, and a display for navigational data.

Das Feuerleit- und Navigationssystem für bewegliche Waffenträger, insbesondere für Kampfpanzer sieht vor, zur Primärstabilisierung beispielsweise eines Ziel- oder Sichtgeräts sowie zur Sekundärstabilisierung einer Waffe einen einzigen zentralen Sensorblock in Strapdown-Technologie zu verwenden, der zwei zweiachsige trockene, dynamisch abgestimmte Kreisel und drei einachsige Beschleunigungsmesser umfaßt. Die Beschleunigungswerte bzw. Drehraten werden im Digitalformat ausgegeben und verarbeitet, so daß außer den üblichen Feuerleitfunktionen zusätzliche Leistungen des Systems ermöglicht sind, insbesondere eine einwandfreie Navigation ohne externe Sichthilfen, eine exakte Feuerleitung sowie eine dynamische Punktstabilisierung der Waffe.
