Schließzylinder besitzen einen drehbeweglichen Kern (3), der einen Schlüsselkanal (5) für einen darin einzustekkenden, profilierten Flachschlüssel (6) sowie mehrere durch letzteren radial verschiebliche Kernstifte (4) aufweist, die mit federbelasteten Gehäusestiften (2) zusammenwirken. Weiterhin ist dabei im Kern (3) ein in eine Innenumfangsausnehmung (15) im Zylindergehäuse (1) eingreifendes Sperrorgan (12) radial verschiebbar gelagert, das durch ein seitlich in den Schlüsselkanal (5) hineinragendes, vom Flachschlüssel (6) beaufschlagbares Steuerorgan (8) zu blockieren oder für seine radiale Einfahrbewegung in den Kern (3) freizugeben ist. Als Steuerorgan dienen mehrere auf einem gemeinsamen, parallel zum Schlüsselkanal (5) verlaufenden Achsbolzen (10) kippbeweglich lagernde Steuerhebel (8), die mit einer gemeinsamen Sperrleiste (12) zusammenwirken, wobei mindestens ein Steuerhebel als die Sperrleiste (12) gegenläufig blockierender oder freigebender Gegensteuerhebel ausgebildet ist. Der zugehörige Flachschlüssel (6) ist mit Einschnitten zum Einordnen der Kernstifte (4), beidseitig vorhandenen Profilrippen und seitlichen, den Steuerhebeln (8) zugeordneten Einfräsungen (6‴) versehen, die in der Nähe des Schlüsselrückens (6') liegen.
