[origin: EP0160934A2] The invention relates to a disconnectable trailer hitch in which the coupling runs up against a catch when its ball rod is inserted, and thus triggers an element which engages in the recess in the ball rod and thus brings about locking between the base body of the trailer hitch attached to the motor vehicle and the ball rod. In a further development, the position of the fixing element with respect to the base body of the hitch is secured in the mounted position of the ball rod by means of a further catch which is activated after the base body engages with and is coupled to the ball rod.
