Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0161214B1] 1. A method of packaging products (10), especially food products such as chocolate bars or sticks or the like, wherein a packing material consisting of a sheet (11) of a web of heat sealable multilayer material is used or not, in which one of the layers composing this multilayer material may be made of aluminium, characterized in that an asymmetrical tube of this packing material is formed around the product (10), so that one of the edges of the sheet projects over the other edge and forms a covering flap (13) which can be folded down, and in that longitudinal sealing of the tube is effected by sealing the other edge (12) of the sheet (11) against the base of this flap (13), in that lateral folds (14, 15) are formed which are folded down against the bottom face (16) of the product (10), and in that the flap (13) is folded down over this bottom face (16) so as to cover the lateral folds (14, 15).
