[origin: US4655220A] The invention relates to an apparatus for the contactless fragmentation of a concrement present in the body of a living being. A shock wave generator is aimed at a target region in the body and includes a coil having the form of a spherical segment. In front of the coil is arranged a mating radiator element, which closes off a liquid filled space and generates therein a shock wave focused on the centers of curvature of the coil and element upon brief connection of the coil to a high voltage. The concrement to be fragmented is positioned to lie at these centers of curvature.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Einrichtung zum berührungslosen Zertrümmern eines im Körper eines Lebewesens befindlichen Konkrements (7) mit einem Stoßwellengenerator, der auf ein Zielgebiet im Körper ausgerichtet ist und der ein Spule (4) aufweist, die die Form einer Kugelkalotte hat. Vor der Spule (4) ist ein ebenfalls Kalottenförmiges Abstrahlglied (3) angeordnet, das einen mit einer Flüssigkeit gefüllten Raum abschließt und darin beim kurzzeitigen Anschalten der Spule (4) an eine Hochspannung eine auf den Kugelmittelpunkt forkussierte Stoßwelle erzeugt. Das zu zertrümmernde Konkrement (7) wird im Kugelmittelpunkt angeordnet.
