Die Erfindung betrifft verbesserte rohr - oder plattenförmige Elektrofilter mit gezahnten mittig angeordneten Sprühelektroden. Elektrofilter mit, von der Gestaltung der Niederschlagselektrode und dem Profil der gezahnten Sprühelektrode unabhängigen optimalen Abscheideverhalten werden dadurch bereitgestellt, daß das Verhältnis des Abstandes (r) der Sprühspitzen von der Mittelachse bei rohrförmigen Niederschlagselektroden oder des Abstandes (r) der Mittelebene zwischen plattenförmigen Niederschlagselektroden zum Abstand (R) der Mittelebene oder Mittelachse von den Wänden der jeweiligen Niederschlagselektroden zwischne 0,35 und 0,7 liegt.
