1. An arrester comprising a dissipating member (102; 202; 302) consisting of at least one metal oxide element and contained in a housing (110; 210, 310) which is structurally combined with a part of a plug-in connection which is adapted to be inserted from the outside into a corresponding part (124; 224; 324) of th plug-in connection which is provided on a bushing in the enclosure (125; 225; 325) of a switching system, and which, when the plug-in connection has been made, has the dissipating member (102; 202; 302) linked via the plug-in connection to a conductor (201) in the interior of the enclosure (125; 225; 325), characterised in that a) both the housing (110; 210; 310) of the dissipating member (102; 202; 302) which consists of zinc oxide and also that (116; 216; 316) of one part of the plug-in connection consist of metal, b) when the plug-in connection is made, the housing (116; 216; 316) of one part of the plug-in connection and via this housing that (110; 210; 310) of the dissipating member (102; 202; 302) is connected in electrically manner to the enclosure (125; 225; 325) which is at earth potential, and c) one part of the plug-in connection is provided with a connecting device (138; 243; 343) for a cable.

Bei einem Überspannunsableiter mit einem aus wenigstens einem Zinkoxidelement bestehenden Ableiterkörper (2) in einem Gehäuse (10), das außerhalb der Kapselung einer Schaltanlage anzuordnen und an der die Kapselung bildenden Wand (25) zu befestigen ist, wobei der Ableiterkörper (22) einerseits mit der Wand (25) und andererseits über eine Durchführung in der Wand (25) der Kapselung mit einem Leiter (1) im Inneren der Kapselung zu verbinden ist, ist die Durchführung als Steckbuchse (24) ausgebildet und das Gehäuse (10) mit einem in die Steckbuchse (24) einsteckbaren Stecker (16,17,19,21) baulich vereinigt, der im eingesteckten Zustand die Verbindung des Ableiterkörpers (2) mit der Wand (25) der Kapselung sowie dem Leiter (1) im Inneren der Kapselung herstellt.
