[origin: WO8502422A1] Germicidal shaped objects containing germicidally effective amounts of iodine are composed of a major amount of a fiber-forming component, e.g., regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, a vinyl chloride copolymer, an acrylonitrile copolymer, or cross-linked alginic acid and a minor amount of an alloying component capable of complexing iodine to a different degree of stability, preferably more firmly, e.g., a polyvinyl pyrrolidone or starch. To prevent iodine from being released into the atmosphere a protective iodine-capturing layer may be used.

Des objets façonnés germicides contenant des quantités d'iode efficaces du point de vue germicide sont formés d'une quantité importante d'un composant fibrogène, par exemple de la cellulose régénérée, de l'acétate de cellulose, un copolymère de chlorure vinylidique, un copolymère d'acrylonitrile ou de l'acide alginique réticulé, et d'une quantité moins importante d'un composant d'addition capable de complexer l'iode à un degré de stabilité différent, le rendant de préférence plus solide, par exemple une pyrrolidone polyvinylique ou de l'amidon. Il est possible d'utiliser une couche protectrice capturant l'iode pour empêcher la libération de ce dernier dans l'atmosphère.
