Abstract (en)
[origin: US4658721A] In a procedure for dry printing of a workpiece through application of a hot embossing foil 5 and embossing die 8 as well as with application of heat, pressure, and time, workpiece 1 and embossing die 8 are moved relatively up to each other, held in contact with intermediate clamping of hot embossing foil 5, and heat thereby transferred. Hot embossing foil 5 is thereby adhered to the workpiece according to embossing die 8 and, after a cooling time, detached from workpiece 1 with the exception of printed image 2. To print differently shaped surfaces 2 of workpieces 1, embossing die 8 is brought into contact with workpiece 1 through progressive engagement over entire die surface 11, with embossing die 8, at least in the region of die surface 11, being given a form according to the shape of the workpiece.
