A process for forming a vamp or upper of an article of footwear from a blank and by means of a last, according to which said blank (2) is sandwiched between a bed (1) of resiliant deformable material and a last (3) previously provided with an insole (4) of which at least a portion of the periphery of the outer face is convered with an appropriate adhesive, the last and the bed are brought towards one another in such a manner as to cause at least the partial enveloppement of the last by said blank by driving the last into the bed, and the projecting portion (2a) of the blank is folded against the pre-glued portion of said insole.
