Abstract (en)
1. Improved process for the stretching of synthetic filaments, especially filaments on a base of polypropylene or the like, composed of two steps, each of which corresponds to a partial stretching, the first step taking place under wet conditions by means of a filament feed mill (1) and a stretching mill (2), a liquid bath (3) and submerged guide rolls (4) being provided between these two elements (1, 2), the second stretching step using the stretching mill (2) of the first step, which now functions as a feed mill for the filaments laden with liquid as a result of their passage through the said bath (3), the said filaments being conveyed towards heated means of the second stretching step (6), characterized in that the said heated means are brought to a temperature higher than the fusion temperature of the filaments in the dry state.

Ce système d'étirage est du type à étirage mixte comportant deux opérations en ligne continue, chacune d'entre elles correspondant a une phase d'étirage partiel, la première phase étant effectuée au mouillé à l'aide d'un train d'alimentation des filaments et d'un train d'étirage (2), un bain de liquide (3) et des rouleaux de guidage submergés (4) étant prévus entre ces deux éléments. La seconde phase d'étirage utilise le train d'étirage (2) de la première phase, qui fonctionne alors comme train d'alimentation des filaments, chargés de notables quantités de liquide du fait de leur passage dans ledit bain (3). Lesdits filaments sont conduits jusqu'à des moyens chauffés (6) portés à une température supérieure à la température de fusion desdits filaments à l'état sec. Sur lesdits moyens (6) se produit la vaporisation instantanée de la charge liquide ainsi que la stabilisation desdits filaments en coopération avec un train final d'étirage et de stabilisation (7).
