[origin: EP0165689A2] A lubricating device for machine shafts consists in that a solid shaft (1) which has a central zone (4) of a reduced diameter also has two cylindrical zones (7,8) threaded in opposite directions. The shaft (1) is disposed within a hollow cylindrical member (9) which has apertures (12) in the region of the zone (4) for enabling oil to circulate from outside the member (9) into the space (23) defined by the zone (4) and member (9).This arrangement enables lubrication of machine shafts without the need for motor driven pumps or the like.
