[origin: WO8502935A1] A semiconductor memory device (10) for serial scan applications. The semiconductor memory device as presented includes a main memory means (16) combined with an on-board means for implementing a shift register function. The shift register function of the present invention is implemented by utilizing a secondary memory means (26) in conjunction with parallel loadable, multiple-bit address counters (38 and 40).
