A suspension system for wall panels (6) and comprising, adapted to be mounted on a wall, a transverse strip (1) or the like and, suspended therein, hooks (2) of which the bottom end (5) engages around the wall panels (6), each hook having, on the middle piece (8) of the hook which rests on the walls panels (6) at an upper suspension and (4) which is on the same side as the transverse strip, at least one projection (15) which extends transversely to its longitudinal direction and engages under a longitudinal surface (22) or edge of the transverse strip (1) or the like, characterised in that the hook (2) is made from wire-like material and in that the free arm (21) of the upper suspension end (4) is substantially U-shaped (19) to form the projection (15) and is disposed laterally in a plane extending transversely to the central plane (13) through the hook defined by the bottom end of the hook and the middle portion of the hook, the two ends of the arms of the U of the projection (15) being substantially of the same height, and in that the projection (15) engages with a minimal clearance between two surfaces or edges (10, 11) of the transverse strip (1) or the like which extend transversely to the central plane (13) of the hook.

Um eine vertikale Anordnung der Haken in einer gedachten Mittelebene (13) senkrecht zur Wand und zur Längsachse der die Haken (2) aufnehmenden Querleiste (1) zu erreichen, besitzt der Haken an seinem oberen Haken- oder Einhängeende (4) wenigstens einen sich quer zu seiner Längsrichtung erstreckenden, eine Längsfläche (22) oder -kante der Querleiste (1) od. dgl. untergreifenden Ansatz (15). Vorzugsweise ist der bzw. sind die Ansätze angeformt. Im Falle einer Herstellung des Hakens aus Draht ist lediglich ein einziger Ansatz vorgesehen. Dieser besitzt im wesentlichen die Gestalt eines U (19), dessen Ebene parallel zur Wand und senkrecht zur Mittelebene (13) bzw. zur Hakenebene verläuft. Die Schenkel dieses U sind so dimensioniert, daß die freie Stirnfläche 20 des freien U-Schenkels (21) an der Längsfläche (22), beispielsweise einer Unterkante oder Unterfläche der Querleiste (1), zur Anlage kommen kann oder davon allenfalls einen minimalen Abstand hat. Ein Verschwenken des Hakens senkrecht zur Ebene der Wand, also innerhalb der Mittelebene (13), wird einerseits durch den Ansatz (15) in Verbindung mit Innenflachen oder Kanten der Querleiste (1) und andererseits durch die von der Wand wegweisende Vorderfläche (7) der Querleiste (1) verhindert. Vor dem Einstecken der Platten (6, 18) verlaüft das Haken-Mittelstück (8), zumindest im wesentlichen, in vertikaler Richtung. Aufgrund der Vorspannung bei überlappenden Platten oder Plattenreihen erfolgt eine geringfügige Schrägstellung oder Verbiegung.
