Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0167038A1] 1. A method of detecting the malfunctioning of a liquid-fuel-operated heating apparatus for vehicles, in which the heating apparatus has associated therewith a control apparatus (2) for controlling the operations and an indication means (9) for indicating the operational condition of the heating apparatus, said indication being effected by the output signal of a performance test circuit (3) by means of which all functions essential to the operation are successively scanned and ascertained by means of a scanning control by a comparison of the nominal and actual values of the electrical voltages (A, B), characterized in that each output signal (Y) of the performance test circuit (3) is first converted into an address code (4) and, then, access is taken under the corresponding address to a read-only memory (5) in which output codes associated with various malfunctions are stored, that the output code issued by the read-only memory (5) is transferred to a shift register (6) as a function of a transfer clock (t1 ) and is shifted there through the shift register (6) as a function of a shift clock (t2 ) and is then supplied to the indication means (9) in coded form.
