1. Visual display panel with characters of the alphanumeric type, comprising for each character a matrix of luminous dots such as light emitting diodes, each character comprising a control circuit constituted by a shift register comprising at least a number of cells equal to the number of luminous dots of a character ; by a storage register, and by control devices such as programmable current generators, each one controlling a luminous dot, characterised in that on each line or in each column, the characters are assembled in groups of two adjacent characters on one and the same printed circuit board which carries one single control circuit ; and in that a 1 to 2 multiplexing is effected so as to control each of the two characters assembled on one board.

L'invention concerne un panneau d'affichage de caractères alphanumériques comportant pour chaque caractère une matrice de points lumineux (11, 12), chaque caractère comportant un circuit de commande constitué d'un registre à décalage (13) comportant au moins un nombre de cellules égal au nombre de points lumineaux d'un caractère, d'un registre de stockage et de dispositif de commande (14) commandant chacun un point lumineux. Le but de l'invention est de réaliser un panneau d'affichage fiable et de dimensions réduites. Selon l'invention, sur chaque ligne ou colonne les caractères sont assemblés par groupes de deux caractères voisins sur une même carte de circuit imprimé qui porte un seul circuit de commande et on effectue un multiplexage de 1/2 pour commander chacun des deux caractères assemblés sur une carte.
