[origin: WO8503012A1] Charge modified microporous hollow tube filter membranes. The tubes are comprised of an organic polymeric microporous filter membrane having a micro-structure throughout the membrane and an amount of charge modifying agent bound to substantially all of the membrane micro-structure without substantial pore size reduction or pore blockage. The charge modified microporous hollow tubes may be used for the filtration of fluids, particularly parenteral or biological liquids contaminated with charged particulate, and for plasmapheresis and other cross-flow filtration applications. The tubes have low extractables and are sanitizable or sterilizable.

Membranes de filtres à tubes creux microporeux modifiés par la charge. Les tubes comprennent une membrane de filtre microporeuse en polymère organique possédant une microstructure sur toute sa surface, et une certaine quantité d'agent modifiant la charge lié sur pratiquement toute la microstructure de la membrane sans réduction sensible de la taille des pores ou blocage des pores. Ces tubes creux microporeux modifiés par la charge peuvent être utilisés pour la filtration de fluides, notamment de liquides parentéraux ou biologiques contaminés par une substance particulaire chargée, ainsi que pour la plasmaphorèse et d'autres applications de filtrage à écoulement transversal. Les tubes présentent une faible teneur en substances pouvant être extraites et sont stérilisables ou hygiénisables.
