1. Heat exchanger built up of plates, which are stacked upon one another and are spaced apart from one another by spacer members, such as projections (2) embossed into the plates, with pairs of adjacent plates having, on two opposite sides (3a, 3b and 3c, 3d respectively), there edge portions (4) bent towards each other and joined to form a double edge portion (6), which double edge portion is lock seamed to a sealing folded seam connection, characterized in that the folded seam connection is formed such that the folded portions (11-14) of the double edge portion are positioned upon one another with two layers (11, 12 ; 13, 14) on either side of the inner portion (7) of the double edge portion (6) along at least a long portion of the width (B) of folded seam connection.

Aus Platten aufgebauter Wärmetauscher, dessen Platten übereinander gestapelt und durch Distanzstücke, wie beispielsweise in die Platten (1) eingeprägte Vorsprünge (2), auf Abstand voneinander gehalten werden, wobei jeweils an zwei gegenüberliegenden Seiten (3a, 3b bzw. 3c, 3d) zweier benachbarter Platten die Randabschnitte (4) der beiden Platten aufeinanderzugebogen sind und zu einem Doppelrandabschnitt (6) aneinandergelegt sind, welcher Doppelrandabschnitt zu einer dichtenden Falzverbindung zusammengefalzt ist. Gemäß der Erfindung ist die Falzverbindung derart ansgebildet, daß die abgebogenen Teile (11-14) des Doppelrandabschnittes wenigstens über einen Teil der Breite (B) der Falzverbindung auf beiden Seiten des inneren Teils (7) des Doppelrandabschnittes (6) in zwei Lagen (11, 12; 13, 14) übereinander liegen.
