[origin: EP0168357A1] In a device for simultaneously stretching and twisting a synthetic filament or yarn, by using a speed differential between two driven roll nips (11/11; 2/2'), the latter is mounted on a turntable (4) with a guide plate (41) to receive the yarn coaxially and to deliver it coaxially via a hollow core passage through the driven roll (2) and its associated drive system (30), after passing over yarn guides (42) for modifying the direction of the yarn past (2) and across (4). The guides (42) pref. are small, freely rotating pulleys. The yarn is collected by a conventional ring and bobbin combination (6,7,8) opt. providing a further speed differential to modify the yarn characteristics. The stretching roll (2) and turntable (4) may be driven by separately controlled drives, e.g. via belts (30') and (40') respectively.
